Jessika is doing life paining of a Tasmanian Waratah - native Tasmanian flora in watercolour medium at Salamanca Market in Hobart

Hi, it’s Jessika Kreps Foster
- the founder of foster flora studio

on the search for connection to flora & fauna
and to ourselves though watercolour art.

capturing natural beauty alongside topics of growth,
cycles, search for balance & calm.

MY STORY:

Growing up on a Flower Farm on the outskirts of historical city in Poland made her appreciate two worlds that I combine in my practice:
the natural world & the charm of heritage and vintage vibes.

After years of search I moved to a place I felt intangible connection with: nipaluna - Hobart.
My illustrations are a way to express myself by offering you a piece of something magical

With earthy tones, little hidden symbolism and metaphors I am creating botanical & vintage feel for your spaces inviting you to be more observant, curious and connected - to feel like you are part of this world.

A Little Evolution:
You might have known me as ‘polkafolk studio’.

Sometimes in life—and in business—we grow into a name that feels more like you. Over the past year my creative practice has deepened, & rooted itself in the things that inspire me most.
With that, Polkafolk Studio has gently blossomed into a new chapter: fosterflora studio

Why Foster?

“Foster” is now part of my own name—Jessika Kreps Foster
but it also beautifully expresses the heart of what I do.
To foster means *to nurture, encourage growth, and support creativity*. It mirrors the way I approach art: observing, tending, and allowing ideas to grow organically, much like the plants I’m so often drawn to paint. with earthy tones, little hidden symbolism and metaphors I am creating magical, botanical & vintage feel in my illustrations.

& why Flora?

Because that’s where my story truly began - growing up on a flower farm , surrounded by seasonal rhythms.
Moving to Tasmania opened another world of flora—natives I’m continuously learning about and interpreting through my work.
Plants have become both my subject and my metaphor: resilience, adaptation, cycles, and quiet beauty.

Foster Flora feels like the truest reflection of my journey—past, present, and where I’m heading next.
Thank you for being here and growing with me. 🌿
